Three Things I've Noticed Lately

I've noticed that we are often willing to pursue a vision, but we treat it as a wish. We handle it as if something great could happen but not likely. We have the same attitude towards our vision as to hitting the jackpot; while it would be nice, the chances are slim to none. Too often, we think of our goals and vision for the future as if they were a wish. We act as if it would be great if they could happen but have little hope. However, we fail to recognize that the fulfillment of a vision is found in the actions we take. And that faith without works is dead. It is our choice to allow our dreams to come alive only when we are sleeping or make them come alive so that everyone may see them.

Another thing I've noticed is that, while we want to pursue our goals and objectives, we don't want to be forced to choose. It's as if we don't expect growth to move us to make a decision. And the truth is that growth necessitates change, and change requires our decision. We must frequently decide how we will spend our time and, more importantly, the types of relationships we will have. We want to experience growth and achieve our goals. Still, we don't want to be forced to choose between stagnant relationships or new circles, old habits, and new routines. And yet, I've noticed how the desire to grow will bring you to a fork in the road.

The third thing I've recently noticed is that we genuinely have a cloud of witnesses. We never know who's watching or listening, and as a result, we never know who we'll impact. There's a difference between impact and influence. Influence requires a relationship, whereas impact indicates that you've come in contact with somebody whos left a mark. Because of technology, we may not come into direct contact with everyone we impact. However, they come into contact with the content we put out. Considering this cloud of witnesses, we see even more the value of transparency. Truly transparency always wins. And even if you fooled some people sometimes, you would still not be able to fool all of the people all of the time.

As you move towards your objective breakthrough, believe in it. As my friend,
Jesse Cruz, says, "You have to be the first one to believe in your vision." Understand that deciding to move towards your vision is going to require you to close the door on the things that are not giving life to that vision; if it doesn't contribute to your growth, then it's feeding your stagnation. And remember, if your current tribe isn't nourishing your vision, there is a cloud of witnesses that are ready to help you create a new tribe.
